Importance of 10 days of Zill Hajj & Eid Al Adah

Dhul Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar, holds immense value in Islam — especially its first ten days. These days are considered among the holiest, filled with spiritual opportunities for Muslims to earn great rewards. Tied to this sacred period is Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, which teaches devotion, sacrifice, and unity.

The First 10 Days of Zill Hajj

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

“There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.

These blessed days are an opportunity to engage in acts of worship including fasting, prayers, charity, dhikr (remembrance of Allah), and repentance. Fasting on the Day of Arafah (9th Zill Hajj) is especially rewarding, as it expiates the sins of the previous and coming year.

💡 How to Make the Most of These Days:

  • Recite Takbeer (Allahu Akbar), Tahmeed (Alhamdulillah), Tahleel (La ilaha illallah), and Tasbeeh (SubhanAllah).

  • Increase in voluntary prayers and Qur’an recitation.

  • Give charity and assist those in need.

  • Reflect, repent, and realign your intentions.

🕋 The Significance of Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha is celebrated on the 10th of Zill Hajj to commemorate the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) and his obedience to Allah. It is a day of joy, prayer, and giving.

Muslims perform Qurbani (sacrifice) of animals and share the meat in three parts: for the family, relatives/friends, and the poor. It symbolizes selflessness, devotion, and gratitude towards Allah.

“It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is your piety that reaches Him.”

🧒 Teach the Next Generation

Let children know the story of Ibrahim (A.S.) and how it reflects total submission to Allah’s will. Involve them in Qurbani, charity, and Eid celebrations to build their love for Islamic traditions.

📌 Conclusion

The first 10 days of Zill Hajj and Eid al-Adha are filled with lessons in spirituality, sacrifice, and compassion. It’s a time to reconnect with Allah, help others, and reflect on our purpose as Muslims. Let’s make the most of these blessed moments and inspire others to do the same.
